RESULTS (PEPP | UTEP)
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball battled tough but came up on the short end of a pair of setbacks Friday to open the Malibu Invite. The Eagles were handed a 5-0 defeat by host Pepperdine before falling 4-1 to UTEP in the evening.
MSU fell to 6-4 overall.
Against UTEP, the No. 2 pair of
Sydney Wyman and
M.E. Hargan claimed the lone point, winning in three sets and rallying as well. They won 13-21, 21-19, 15-8.
Against the Waves earlier in the day, MSU fell but took a pair of matches to all three sets. At No. 4,
Brenna Bommer and
Shea Hefner won their first set 21-18 before falling 22-20 and 15-12. On court five,
Hollan Everett and
Courtney Fitzgerald forced a third set by winning 21-19 in the second. They nearly pulled out the win before succumbing 15-12.
The pair also had a three-set affair in the UTEP match before finally falling in the third 15-13. The won the second set 21-17.
The Eagles wrap up the Malibu Invite on Saturday with a match against Sacramento State at 2 p.m. ET and Cal-State Northridge at 6 p.m. ET.
