RESULTS (MCKENDREE | TUSCULUM)
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball kept its perfect record intact and opened the home portion of its 2025 schedule with wins over McKendree (Ill.) and Tusculum (Tenn.) Tuesday at Giovanni's Breadstick Beach.
The Eagles topped McKendree first 5-0 and then followed up a few hours later with a 4-1 victory over Tusculum.
MSU's 6-0 start is the second best in the history of the program, trailing only the 8-0 start the 2021 team posted. That season was trimmed short though to only two OVC weekends.
The No. 1 pair of
Irene Wogenstahl and
Bella Marita captured two straight wins today (21-10, 21-11 vs. McK and 21-16, 21-13 vs. TUS). The Eagles' No. 3 pair of
Shea Hefner and
Sarah Heath also won a pair of straight set triumps. Heath is now 6-0 in her first Division I beach season.
At No. 2,
Peighton Isley and
M.E. Hargan also won twice, securing a three-setter against McKendree (21-13, 19-21, 15-10). Isley has a perfect 5-0 record on the year.Â
At No. 5,
Hollan Everett grabbed two wins as well, with a different partner each match. Against McKendree Everett and
Landyn Snowden won in straight sets. In the second match,
Lily-Kate Carver joined Everett for the two-set victory.
The No. 4 duo of
Brenna Bommer and Courtney Fizgerald secured a straight-set win over McKendree but were the lone pair to drop a match today, falling 2-0 in their dual with the Pioneers.
MSU's California trip is next. The Eagles begin out west with duals versus Concordia-Irvine and UCLA on March 11 at UCLA.
