MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball wrapped up a perfect opening weekend at Grand Sands by defeating Liberty 4-1 and Austin Peay 3-2 on Saturday.
The Eagles have started the season 4-0 for the first time since 2021.
MSU claimed all the pairings against Liberty except No. 1. MSU won against former OVC and Atlantic Sun rival Austin Peay with wins at Nos. 2, 3 and 5.
Against the Lady Govs, the No. 2 pair of
M.E. Hargan and
Sydney Wyman staked MSU to a 1-0 lead with a come-from-behind 16-21, 21-16, 15-8 victory. AP tied it with a win at No. 4. At No. 3,
Peighton Isley and
Sarah Heath claimed a straight-set 21-17, 21-14 win. MSU sealed the team win as No. 5's
Courtney Fitzgerald and
Hollan Everett outlasted AP's Angelena Greene and Emma Loiars 21-15, 15-21, 15-10.

Shea Hefner took their matches to three sets before falling.
The Eagles return to action and host their first home matches of the 2025 season on Tuesday, March 4 when McKendree (Ill.) visits. Matches will be at 10 a.m. and Noon ET.
