Founded in 1887 and established as a state institution of higher education in 1922, Morehead State University has expanded and developed over the last one hundred and thirteen years into a multi-purpose institution. Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Morehead, Kentucky, the University has an approximate enrollment of 9,000 students and offers 96 undergraduate and 38 graduate degree programs, two certificate programs, and ten paraprofessional programs of study. The Morehead State University Marching Band is a part of this long-standing tradition of excellence. Through the years it has provided quality musical performances in a wide variety of venues including a Presidential Inaugural parade; numerous gubernatorial inaugural parades; Bengals and Colts football games; regional, state and local exhibitions and parades. It performs at all home football games and is visible throughout the region in area events. For more than fifteen years the Morehead State University Marching Band has hosted the Blue and Gold Festival of Marching Bands, an innovative concept in marching band festivals designed to provide an educational experience for students. The Marching Band is under the direction of Dr. Susan Creasap, Associate Director of Bands. She is assisted by Mr. Brian Mason who is responsible for all aspects of the Morehead State University Marching Percussion. The MSU Marching Band is open to all MSU students regardless of major. Please see the Morehead State University Newsletter for additional information.
