OXFORD, Ala. -- Morehead State Softball ran into a buzzsaw in the circle Wednesday as freshman Sydney Baalman tossed a no-hitter for SIUE, leading the Cougars past the Eagles 8-0 in a run-rule shortened result in the opening round of the OVC Tournament at Choccolocco Park.
Despite the season-ending loss, freshman Emily Williams, who went 0-for-1 on the day with a walk, established the program's single-season slugging percentage record at .706.
MSU finished 2023 at 11-33.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Morehead State did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Eagles went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the second, when junior Erin Boyle made it into scoring position with one out.

» Morehead State pitchers faced 25 SIUE hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and two fly balls while striking out one.
