MOREHEAD, Ky. – A pair of highly-rated women’s tennis student-athletes are set to join the Morehead State program. Hayley Wild, from Carmel, Ind., and Kennedy Womack, a native of Ashland, Ky., have signed National Letters of Intent with MSU.
Wild, a three star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net, prepped at Carmel High School and is the seventh-highest rated player in the state. Wild is also listed as the 61st-best player in the Great Lakes region.
“Hayley comes from a tennis family and has a high tennis I.Q.,” Head Coach Kevin Fulton said. “We are excited she chose to join our program.”
Wild began and finished her career at Carmel High School and spent one season at New Braunfels (Texas) High School. She teamed with her sister Courtney, who is currently a sophomore at Ball State, to reach the quarterfinals of the Texas 5A doubles championship. Returning to Carmel, she was named first-team all-state in doubles in 2012.
Womack is the top-ranked player in Kentucky among the class of 2013, according to tennisrecruiting.net. She is also the 54th-best player in the nation and a four-star signee as picked by the recruiting web site. She prepped at Rose Hill Christian Academy (RHCA) and will finish her career as a senior at Fairview High School in the Ashland area.
Womack burst onto the scene as a freshman when she won the 16th region singles title and advanced to the state tournament semifinals. In 2012, she was the state singles runner-up at RHCA.
“I am very glad to be adding a girl like Kennedy to our program,” Fulton said. “She has high character and talent and should challenge for a spot in the lineup right away.”
