Lipka Receives Contract Extension

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Warren Lipka, who was named Ohio Valley Conference Soccer Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2011, has received a contract extension through the 2015 season.

“Warren is an outstanding coach who has demonstrated tremendous loyalty to our program and is very deserving of this extension,” Director of Athletics Brian Hutchinson said. “We’re thankful for his efforts and believe in his plan to lead us successfully into the future.”

Lipka is 34-34-12 overall, and 18-9-8 in conference play, in his four seasons with the Eagles. During his first season in 2009, he led the program to its first ever regular-season championship. In 2010, MSU repeated as regular-season champions and added a conference tournament championship to its résumé.

He has mentored 12 all-conference selections, eight OVC Tournament team selections, including one tournament MVP, and one OVC Player of the Year. In the classroom, MSU has had 11 OVC Medal of Honor recipients, 49 Commissioner’s Honor Roll award winners, five CoSIDA Academic All-District selections and one academic all-American during Lipka’s tenure.

“We’ve had great success here the past four years,” Lipka said. “I know we struggled this past season, but the pieces are in place to get us back to where we belong.”

After a 2-12-4 season in 2012, Lipka is looking toward the future of Eagle soccer.

“With the addition of our new practice facility, the current student-athletes and the addition of the 2013 class, we look forward to the 2013 season and beyond," Lipka added. “I am very grateful to Brian and President Dr. Wayne Andrews for having confidence in me to continue to lead our women’s soccer program.”
