MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Members of the Kelly-Tenyer family recently spoke about a connection to Morehead State University that spans over 50 years. Three generations of Kellys have been tied to Eagle athletics and four members of the family come to campus every day.
The grandfather, the late Lake Kelly, served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at MSU in the 1960s. The father, Brian, played basketball for the Eagles during the 1980s. The son, Drew, is the only player in the current program to participate in an NCAA Tournament.
Lake and Marti Kelly’s oldest child, Lake Jr., serves as the natatorium service technician in Morehead State’s Recreation & Wellness Center. Their only daughter, Jane Tenyer, works in the same building and oversees the areas of fitness, wellness and student development.
Jane’s husband, Rob Tenyer, was promoted to Morehead State’s head football coach in December after 12 seasons as an assistant coach. The Eagles set 29 school records on offense the past two years, when Tenyer served as the program’s offensive coordinator.
Marti lives just 25 miles from campus in Fleming County. The entire family is typically seen at MSU football and men’s basketball games, among other events.
