Duzan Named to Fred Mitchell Award Watch List

OFFICIAL WATCH LIST RELEASE (PDF)

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Morehead State senior kicker Rainer Duzan, a two-time First-Team All-Pioneer Football League recipient, has been named to the 2012 Fred Mitchell Award Watch List.

The list features 44 Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, III, NAIA and NJCAA place-kickers who were nominated by their schools for excellence on the field and in the community.

Duzan led all PFL kickers with 85 points in 2011, converting on 12-of-17 field-goal attempts and 49-of-51 extra-point tries.  He was named to the PFL Honor Roll, PFL Academic All-League list and FCS Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team.

A native of Dublin, Ohio, Duzan established league and school records for points in a game by a kicker (19) in a 67-0 win over Kentucky Christian last year.  He also knocked down a career-long 49-yard field goal in a 55-35 victory over PFL foe Butler.

Duzan, a three-time PFL Special Teams Player of the Week in 2011, joins Marist’s Jason Myers as the only league kickers represented on this watch list.

Morehead State begins regular-season action on Thursday, Aug. 30, when Southern Virginia visits Jayne Stadium at 7 p.m. ET.  It will be the first of six home games for the Eagles in 2012.
