MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Director of Athletics Brian Hutchinson has been elevated to first vice president for the Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA). Hutchinson previously served as the organization’s second vice president.
Hutchinson enters his eighth full school year as MSU’s director of athletics and 14th year in the department. He previously served as an associate athletic director and interim athletic director before moving to the permanent AD position in 2005.
“It’s certainly an honor to be the first vice president for the FCS ADA,” Hutchinson said. “This is a terrific opportunity to represent Morehead State University and the Pioneer Football League on a national scale. I’ve enjoyed my professional relationship with this organization in previous years, and I’m looking forward to this new role in 2012-13.”
A native of Louisa, Ky., and two-time Morehead State graduate, Hutchinson has been associated with the university for more than 20 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1996 and master’s degree in sports administration 2001.
In addition to his local community involvement, Hutchinson has represented MSU in several national-profile leadership groups over the years. The list includes the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, American Football Coaches Association and National Football Foundation.
A former board of directors chair for the Ohio Valley Conference, Hutchinson has also been involved with the NCAA Division I Recruiting and Personnel Issues Cabinet, FCS Governance Committee, FCS Midwest Regional Advisory Committee and D-I Football Issues Committee.
Hutchinson joins President Ron Strollo (Youngstown State), Second Vice President Charlie Cobb (Appalachian State) and Third Vice President Ken Beazer (Southern Utah) on the FCS ADA’s 2012-13 board of directors. The organization’s executive committee includes 14 senior-level administrators, including OVC Commissioner Beth DeBauche.
Now in its 19th year, the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association’s mission is to enhance Football Championship Subdivision football. The FCS ADA is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, which is in its 47th year.
