MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Catcher
Drew Williams made the most of his start behind the plate by going 3-for-4 with a stolen base and three RBI in Morehead State's 7-3 win over non-conference opponent Georgetown College Tuesday at Allen Field.
Three Eagles (19-14) recorded multi-hit performances. Williams, designated hitter
Eric Bainer and third baseman
Andrew Deeds accounted for all of MSU's base knocks in the midweek contest. Deeds ranked second nationally in hits coming into the game.
MSU struck first with a pair of runs in the second inning off an
Eric Bainer home run, his fourth of the season. The Eagles also plated a run in the fourth and four in the fifth. Tiger starter Matt Smith surrendered all seven runs, in 4.1 innings and took the loss.
Morehead State righty
Gerardo Arias notched his second win of the season. He tossed five innings, allowed two runs, both unearned and fanned two.
The Eagles return to Allen Field this weekend when they face Ohio Valley Conference foe Southeast Missouri. The three-game series begins Friday at 5 p.m. ET.
