Deeds Earns 2012 Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference Team Honors

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State senior baseball player Andrew Deeds was selected to the 2012 Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference Team Tuesday, after posting a .380 batting average with 49 RBI, 17 doubles and school-record seven triples last season.

Deeds broke the Eagles career and season marks in three-baggers last year, hitting the 11th of his career and seven overall in 2011.

"Andrew has been a big part of our club since he was a freshman," said coach Jay Sorg. "His athleticism allows him to do so many things both defensively and offensively. We are going to lean on him a lot this year."

The Eagles expect big things from Deeds this season after losing catcher Taylor Davis to the professional ranks in the offseason. Deeds has a career .351 batting average and has swatted 24 home runs, driven in 125 runs and hit 35 doubles over three seasons.

Deeds spent the offseason playing for the Albany Dutchmen of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, a highly competitive wood-bat summer league. With the Dutchmen, he hit .326 with three triples, 16 stolen bases and started in the outfield for the Perfect Game East All-Star Team.
