Cole Named Co-Freshman of the Year; Rifle Places Fourth

MOREHEAD, Ky. –  Ethan Cole was named co-Freshman of the Year and to the Second-Team All-Conference and Smallbore All-Newcomer Teams, as the Morehead State rifle team placed fourth at the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Rifle Championships on Sunday in Martin, Tenn.
 
Morehead State totaled a 4,543 aggregate score for the two-day competition, while Jacksonville State brought home its sixth OVC championship with a 4,631 total.
 
MSU began the event with a fourth place effort in the smallbore competition, shooting a team total of 2,266 on Saturday.  Cole led the Eagles with a seventh place finish, firing a 573 total. Rob Gagliani also earned Second-Team All-OVC Smallbore.
 
The championship wrapped up on Sunday, with the Eagles tallying a fourth place finish in air rifle with a 2277 total.  Sophomore Mary Saenger and freshman Jumell Wilson each scored a 570 total to pace MSU.
 
The Eagles next head to Lexington, Ky., on Feb. 18-19 to compete in the NCAA Sectional Qualifier.
