MOREHEAD, Ky. –
Rob Tenyer was formally introduced as the 14th head football coach in Morehead State University history on Thursday. Approximately 100 media, campus and community members welcomed Tenyer at the EAGLE Center on MSU’s campus.

Morehead State Director of Athletics Brian Hutchinson gave the search process background, introduced Tenyer, and then the new head coach spoke to the crowd before fielding a variety of questions from several media members.

"I am going to build my program on what I call the three C's: character, community and championship effort," Tenyer said. “We're going to start recruiting earlier in the process, and get to know these players and their families on a deeper level.”

Tenyer is familiar with the program, the university and community. He has served as an assistant coach at MSU for the past 12 years, including the last two as offensive coordinator. His family, along with a large number of current MSU football student-athletes, were in the audience on Thursday.

"This is a great place, with great people, and for me that is what it is all about,” he said.

Tenyer takes over the Eagle program with high praise from fellow collegiate coaches and players he mentored.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING ABOUT ROB TENYER

“I am thrilled for Rob. He was a young talent when he was with us at Centre, and it has been a joy for me to watch Rob develop into an outstanding mentor and coach. His enthusiasm, intensity, and care for his student athletes will ultimately affect Morehead State football and the University for the good. I am excited to see all this develop under his tutelage.”

“I want to congratulate Coach Tenyer for this well-deserved opportunity.  We’ve had a great relationship throughout my college career, and I’ve really enjoyed having him as my offensive coordinator the past two years.  Coach Tenyer works extremely hard and truly cares about the players in the program.  He also has great relationships with people throughout the campus and Morehead community. A lot of people are talking about the seniors who are moving on, but there’s still a lot of talent in the system.  I also know that Coach Tenyer and his new staff will work extremely hard on the recruiting trail to bring in quality guys for the future.”
