Greg Goral Named Head Volleyball Coach at Campbell

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State Associate Head Volleyball Coach Greg Goral has resigned his position to take the head coaching position at Campbell University.

Goral, who recently completed his fifth season on Head Coach Jaime Gordon’s staff, was promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2011 season.

“I am excited about the opportunity I have to take over a program that has a great deal of potential and promise,” Goral said. “I want to thank Jaime for helping me grow as a coach and as a person over the last five seasons. I would not be in the position I am today without his friendship and guidance. I also want to thank our players and parents, MSU Director of Athletics Brian Hutchinson, the entire athletic department, and the university for allowing me to be a part of the Morehead State family. My time here has been very special, and my wife and I will miss everyone dearly.”

Goral helped MSU win four Ohio Valley Conference regular season titles and one OVC Tournament championship in his tenure. The Eagles were 52-2 in league matches the last three seasons and held the nation’s longest winning streak at 24 matches this year.

"We are all very excited for Greg and his family,” Gordon said. “This is a great opportunity for him, and Campbell is getting one heck of a coach.  Greg has been an integral part of our recent success, so I am not surprised that other institutions would pursue him to lead their programs.  He will be missed, but we all wish him the very best as he takes on these new challenges."

As MSU’s recruiting coordinator, Goral helped land three PrepVolleyball.com top-60 signing classes. He coached five American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region selections and two AVCA All-Americans. MSU won four OVC and AVCA Team Academic Awards with Goral on staff.

Prior to MSU, Goral held Division I assistant coaching positions at Auburn (2006, 2007), Eastern Washington (2005), Gonzaga (2004) and Rhode Island (2002, 2003). He began his coaching career at Springfield College (2000 and 2001) with the men’s and women’s teams

Campbell competes in the Big South Conference and finished 7-24 this season.
