Eagle Baseball Set For Home Series Against Redhawks

GAME NOTES (PDF)

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Morehead State baseball will open a three-game series against Miami (Ohio) this weekend at Allen Field. Saturday will feature a doubleheader and the series finale will be Sunday, first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. both days.

The Eagles (2-15) enter the series riding a three-game losing streak after falling to Georgetown, 5-3, Wednesday afternoon. MSU committed three errors in the game which allowed three unearned runs.

The Redhawks (5-9) present another challenge for Morehead State as they have a talented and experienced group of pitchers. Senior Tyler Melling (4-0, 0.72) is projected to start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader for Miami (Ohio). He is coming off a seven-inning, two-hit performance against Illinois State.

MSU has compiled their only two wins this season at Allen Field. At home, the Eagles are batting hitting .305.

Outfielder Daniel Pugh will need to continue his hot streak at the plate this weekend. He is currently riding a 10-game hitting streak, the longest such streak for the Eagles this season.

Coach Jay Sorg has never faced Miami (Ohio) during his career at Morehead State. The all-time series between the two teams is tied at 5-5.
