Drew Lee Named to Appalachian League All-Star Team

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Former Morehead State baseball player Drew Lee, who is in his first season with the Bristol White Sox, has been chosen to the Appalachian League Post-Season All-Star team and was named Bristol White Sox Most Valuable Player. He was selected as a second baseman.

Lee appeared in 62 games and finished the year batting .282 with five home runs and five stolen bases. He led the league in doubles (24), was fifth in hits (72), and was eighth in RBI (39).

In June, he was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 12th round of the 2010 First-Year Player draft.

Lee, who was a First Team All-OVC selection, hit .412 with 84 hits, 60 runs scored, 19 doubles, 17 home runs and 66 RBI in 50 total games his senior year at MSU.

Men's Basketball
Men's Basketball senior Ty Proffitt recorded a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Tuesday’s 75-69 victory over Norfolk State. 

He then registered a season-best 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Tennessee Tech. 

The guard, who hails from London, Ky., connected on 69 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 67 percent from downtown (8-of-12) in addition to making all eight free-throw attempts.  He also committed just four turnovers in 65 minutes last week.

Proffitt was also named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances this past week.

Women's Tennis
Junior women's tennis player Brooke Helms went undefeated in singles action over the weekend, as she tallied two individual match wins. 

Helms clinched the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Big East power West Virginia, a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at number five singles.  Helms then was only one of two Eagle netters to score a win in a 5-2 loss at Duquesne , winning 6-3, 6-4 at number five.
