MOREHEAD, Ky. - Morehead State's Liz Schuler and Holly Evans have been honored with the first Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week awards for 2010.

"For us to receive both players of the week awards in one week is great. Holly and Liz both had great tournaments in Atlanta, and they deserve this recognition," said coach Jaime Gordon. "We will really be counting on them to continue to give us quality play on the court."

Schuler posted 77 digs in her first three matches at the libero position to give her 6.4 per set. A converted hitter, she was named to the all-tournament team at the Georgia State Invitational for her efforts. In the match against Georgia State, she recorded 33 digs, including 12 in the second set. She followed that up with a team-high 27 in a four-set win over Wright State. Schuler finished the tourney with 17 digs in the sweep of UNF.

Evans was also named to the GSU Invitational All-Tournament team after leading the Eagles in kills and hitting percentage. She registered 35 kills in the three matches and only committed eight attack errors for a .342 hitting percentage. She also contributed 14 blocks (1.17 per set). She opened the year with a team-best 14 kills and just three errors (.333) to go along with five blocks against Georgia State.
