GAME NOTES

LIVE STATS

MOREHEAD, Ky. –
The Morehead State Eagles will open the 2010 campaign on the road, as they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to battle the Cincinnati Bearcats. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Gettler Stadium. MSU will then travel to West Lafayette, Indiana to play the Purdue Boilermakers on Sunday Aug. 22 at 1 p.m.

The Eagles (0-0-0) come into the match with a 2-1 victory over Indiana State in the Eagle’s one and only exhibition. MSU got an early goal from freshman Alex Pacitto in the 31st minute and then after allowing an Indiana State score, senior Erin Adams ripped the game winner in the 81st minute to seal the victory. Morehead State took 10 shots from the pitch and had four kicks from the corner pocket.

The Cincinnati Bearcats (0-0-0) are coming off of an 8-10-1 season, in which they will return 13 letterwinners and eight starters. Junior Emily Hebbeler and senior Kendall Loggins will be the two main goal scoring threats, as they led UC in scoring a season ago, with six goals apiece. Another key player to watch is Julie Morrissey who tallied 11 points in the 2009 campaign, with four goals and three assists. The Bearcats are 21-9 in season openers and are coached by Michelle Salmon who is in her third season.

The Purdue Boilermakers (0-0-0) will face the Toledo Rockets on Friday, Aug 20 in their opener before hosting the Eagles. Purdue was picked to place fifth in the Big Ten for the 2010 campaign and only lost five starters from a season ago. Looking to pick up the slack of last year’s NCAA tournament team will be senior co-captains Carianne Betts and Liz Secue. Betts will start in goal and Secue, who was a second team All-Big Ten performer a year ago, will be back in the mid-field. The Boilermakers are coached by Robert Klatte who is in his 13th year.

The Eagles will continue their road trip next weekend when they travel to Toledo, Ohio to battle the Rockets on Aug. 27 at 5 p.m. and then to Akron, Ohio to face the Zips on Aug. 29 at 1 p.m.
