BOX SCORE

MOREHEAD, Ky. –
Morehead State senior forward Erin Adams and freshman Alex Pacitto, worked well as a duo, each scoring a goal that helped propel the Eagles to a 2-1 victory over visiting Indiana State Sunday afternoon. The game was the Eagles one and only exhibition of the season.

“It was a typical exhibition; it was very good at points and sloppy at other points. It was very encouraging that our girls were able to rally together as we withstood their attack in the second half, we were able to come back strong and get the game winner.” said coach Warren Lipka “We will be excited to get back to practice and get ready for our season opener against Cincinnati.”

The Eagles scored first in the 31st minute after Adams drove the ball deep into the box on the right side and had a beautiful cross to the back post, where Pacitto went top-shelf for the goal past Sycamore goalkeeper Brianna Supulski.

In the second half Indiana State tied it 1-1 in the 70th minute. Indiana State got two shots off following a corner kick. Eagle goalkeeper Lily Meisner was able to stop the first shot, however couldn’t grab the deflection and the Sycamores were able to slip the equalizer past Meisner.

MSU endured the Sycamore attack, and in the 81st minute the duo of Adams and Pacitto struck again. This time it was Pacitto who slipped an excellent through ball into the 18 yard box, where Adams was able to rip the unstoppable game winning goal into the upper right corner.

Adams led all Eagles with five shots, and Eagle teammate Devan Jordan had two. Jillian Birchmeier and Pacitto and freshman Lindsey Oettle were also able to get off one shot each.

The Eagles outshot the Sycamores 10-6 in the match. Each team had four kicks from the corner pocket and MSU had 10 fouls to Indiana State’s six.

Morehead State will kick-off the 2010 regular season Friday, Aug. 20 at the University of Cincinnati. Game time is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
