MOREHEAD, Ky.—Four Morehead State women’s golfers, Emma Eksell, Emma Jonsson, Karolina Tunstig and Marisa Kamelgarn have been named to the National Golf Coaches Association Division I All-American Scholar Team the NGCA announced this week.

“This is one of the toughest academic awards in college athletics to earn because you have to maintain a GPA of over 3.5 and play in a minimum of 50 percent of our varsity tournaments,” MSU coach Stephanie Barker said. "I am very proud of both Emmas, Karolina and Marisa. We had the most number of All-American Scholars of any teams from the OVC and the majority of the other leagues in the country, and I think it’s because of the commitment that our girls have as student-athletes and as teammates.”

Eksell (Gothenburg, Sweden), Jonsson (Taby, Sweden) and Tunstig (Mossbystrand, Sweden) were all sophomores last season, majoring in sport management, business management and business respectively. Kamelgarn (Mahopac, N.Y.), a freshman last season, is a biology major.

The National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Teams for Division I, II & III were announced today with a total of 494 women’s collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50 percent (Division I) or 66 percent (Division II & III) of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
