Hutchinson Named Third Vice President of FCS Athletic Directors Group

MOREHEAD, Ky.— Morehead State Director of Athletics Brian Hutchinson has been selected as the Third Vice President of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Athletic Directors’ Association.

He is one of four officers serving the group, which is a selection of athletics directors from FCS schools that help steer the NCAA’s governance of the Division I football subdivision. He will advance to Second Vice President next year and will eventually be President of the association for the 2013 season.

Hutchinson has served on several committees during his six-year tenure as MSU’s Director of Athletics. He is a current member of the NCAA Division I Recruiting and Personnel Issues Cabinet. He has also served on the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Governance Committee, the FCS Midwest Regional Advisory Committee and the Division I Football Issues Committee. For the 2006-07 year, Hutchinson served as chair of the OVC Board of Directors of Athletics.

Men's Basketball senior Ty Proffitt recorded a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Tuesday’s 75-69 victory over Norfolk State. 

He then registered a season-best 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Tennessee Tech. 

The guard, who hails from London, Ky., connected on 69 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 67 percent from downtown (8-of-12) in addition to making all eight free-throw attempts.  He also committed just four turnovers in 65 minutes last week.

Proffitt was also named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances this past week.

Women's Tennis
Junior women's tennis player Brooke Helms went undefeated in singles action over the weekend, as she tallied two individual match wins. 

Helms clinched the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Big East power West Virginia, a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at number five singles.  Helms then was only one of two Eagle netters to score a win in a 5-2 loss at Duquesne , winning 6-3, 6-4 at number five.
