MOREHEAD, Ky.— Morehead State Director of Athletics
Brian Hutchinson announced Monday that Head Women’s Athletic Trainer
Sara Larson has been named Senior Woman Administrator.
Larson will continue her duties in athletic training in addition to taking on the administrative duties of the SWA position. This includes serving as an administrative liaison to MSU’s women’s teams, representing Morehead State Athletics on Ohio Valley Conference and NCAA committees in addition to other administrative duties.
“Sara is an excellent athletic trainer and in the course of working with her for the past eight years, I’ve come to respect her from an administrative standpoint as well,” Hutchinson said. “Her duties in our sports medicine department have included immense amounts of administrative oversight, which makes her a natural fit for our senior woman administrator position.”
Larson is in her eighth year on the MSU athletic training staff and head second as head women's trainer. She is the primary athletic trainer for Eagle women’s basketball team. She served as an assistant athletic trainer for six years prior to becoming head women’s trainer.
“I’m excited to take this step forward in my career,” Larson said. “It’s an honor to have been chosen to fill this role and I feel that my experiences as a head athletic trainer will serve me well in my administrative duties.”
Prior to full-time appointment as an assistant athletic trainer, Larson served as a graduate assistant and staff assistant and also served as an adjunct professor in MSU's sport management program. She earned her master's degree in sports and recreation administration from Morehead State in 2004 and earned a bachelor's degree in nutritional sciences from University of Missouri in 2002.
