CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Morehead State men’s tennis team got back on the winning path, with a 4-3 victory over Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay Saturday afternoon at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts. The men now have an overall record of 10-6 and 4-1 in OVC play.

Austin Peay was able to take an early match lead of 1-0 after taking two of three in doubles action. Bradley Bryan and Lovell Medcalf beat Amar Subasic and Renan Bezerra 8-5 in the two spot. At number one doubles Greg Anderson and Jerry Sundren were defeated 8-3 by Sean Bailey and Henrique Normiato and in the three spot Nathan Blum and Nathan Martin just came up short of John Storie and Leonardo Locatelli 8-6.

The Eagles got momentum rolling in the singles, when Sundgren and Anderson won at number one and two respectively. Sundgren beat Bailey 6-3, 6-2 and Anderson defeated Locatelli 6-2, 6-3. In the three spot Bryan was beat by Norbiato 7-5, 6-3 and Blum was bested in the four spot by Subasic 6-0, 7-6, (2-0). Dusan Milovanovic was over Bezerra 6-0, 6-3 and Martin was victorious in the sixth spot 6-3, 6-2.

The Eagles will be back in action at home against Tennessee Tech on April 6.

Women's Tennis
Junior women's tennis player Brooke Helms went undefeated in singles action over the weekend, as she tallied two individual match wins. 

Helms clinched the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Big East power West Virginia, a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at number five singles.  Helms then was only one of two Eagle netters to score a win in a 5-2 loss at Duquesne , winning 6-3, 6-4 at number five.

Men's Basketball
Men's Basketball senior Ty Proffitt recorded a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Tuesday’s 75-69 victory over Norfolk State. 

He then registered a season-best 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Tennessee Tech. 

The guard, who hails from London, Ky., connected on 69 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 67 percent from downtown (8-of-12) in addition to making all eight free-throw attempts.  He also committed just four turnovers in 65 minutes last week.

Proffitt was also named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances this past week.
