DICKSON, Tenn.—Morehead State women’s golf nearly matched its day one total, but Murray State and Jacksonville State both improved significantly in round two and the Eagles slipped to third at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship after two and a half rounds.
Because of impending bad weather forecast for Saturday’s final round, the teams played all of round two and the first nine holes of round three. The final nine round will be played Saturday, weather permitting. The entire tournament is being played at the 6,049-yard par 72 GreyStone Golf Club
Morehead State shots a 305 in round two, just one stroke over their round one 304. But both Murray State (eight strokes) and JSU (10 strokes) improved by a significant margin. Adding in the partial third round, the Eagles currently have a 759 (304-305-150). Murray is in first with a 747 (306-298-143) and the Gamecocks are second at 752 (304-294-154).
Marisa Kamelgarn, who was in second place after the first round, slipped in round two but is shooting even par in round three to lead the Eagles with a 187 (73-78-36). The OVC Freshman of the Year had one birdie in the second round and has one through nine holes in the third round.
Emma Jonsson trails Kamelgarn by one stroke, placing her tied for seventh overall with a 188 (75-76-37). Jonsson had three birdies in round two.
Paige Lausier and
Darlene Bognot each have a 195 to tie for 16th overall. Lausier shot a 77-76-42 through the 45 holes with three birdies on Friday. Bognot carded a 79-75-41 with a single birdie in round two.
Ashley Redmond is tied for 20th with a 198 (79-83-36) with one birdie in the first nine of round three.
Austin Peay is fourth with a 769 and Eastern Kentucky is fifth at 778. Eastern Illinois shot a 797 to place sixth and Tennessee Tech’s 807 placed the Golden Eagles seventh. Tennessee State rounded out the field with a 957. Austin Peay’s Chelsea Harris leads the individuals with a 180
The final nine holes of round three will be played Saturday. Should weather prevent the final nine hole from being played, the current standings through 45 holes will be declared final.
