MSU Men's Tennis Team Downed 4-2 In First Round To Austin Peay

PADUCAH, Ky. –
The Morehead State men’s tennis team couldn’t hold onto an early 1-0 match lead and lost in the first round of the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Tennis Tournament to No. 5 seed Austin Peay 4-2, Friday afternoon at the Helfin Tennis Center in Paducah, Ky.

In doubles action, the Eagles took the first two matches to grab an early 1-0 lead over the Govs. Bradley Bryan and Lovell Medcalf won over Renan Bezeera and Amar Subasic 8-3 in the two spot and at number three Nathan Blum and Nathan Martin beat John Storie and Leonardo Locatelli 8-6. Greg Anderson and Jerry Sundgren played in the one spot, but their match was unfinished as the Eagles had already taken the 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Anderson grabbed the only victory for the Eagles, when he defeated Locatelli 6-2, 6-1. Austin Peay won the remaining matches to get the come from behind victory. At number three Bryan was bested by Henrique Norbiato 6-1, 6-4 and in the four spot Blum lost to Bezerra 6-3, 6-4. In the sixth spot Martin was defeated by Storie 6-3, 6-0 and the decisive match winner came in the fifth spot as Dusan Milovanovic was beat by Subasic 5-7, 7-6, 6-2. Sundgren’s match in the one spot went unfinished.

The Eagles finished the season with a 10-9 overall record.
