Women's Golf Jumps Into Three-Way Tie For First

RICHMOND, Ky.—
Morehead State women’s golf shot a 605 in the first two rounds of the EKU Lady Colonel Classic to vault into a three-way tie for first place with Memphis and Arkansas State.

The Eagles shot a 305 in the first round before shaving five strokes off of their second round score to card a 300. MSU had the third-best score in each round and is two strokes ahead of fourth-place Toledo. All 36 holes of the first two rounds were played Saturday at the par-72, 5,817-yard Arlington Club.

Paige Lausier had MSU’s lowest round in the first 36 holes, carding a 72 in the nightcap to record a 148 (76-72) which tied her for third overall, just two strokes off the lead. Marisa Kamelgarn also finished in the top 20, scoring a 151 (75-76) to tie for 12th overall.

Emma Jonsson and Darlene Bognot both joined Kamelgarn with a 76 in the second round, placing Jonsson tied for 24th with a 154 (78-76) and Bognot tied for 34th 157 (81-76). Ashley Redmond shot a 160 (76-84) to tie for 45th overall.

Emma Eksell and Karolina Tunstig, who are playing as individuals, finished tied for 45th and tied for 91st respectively. Eksell shot a 160 (77-83) and Tunstig a 171 (85-86).

Murray State (5th-611); host Eastern Kentucky (T6th-616), Austin Peay (T6th-616) and SIU Edwardsville (T14th-657) were the other Ohio Valley Conference programs at the 17-team event

Austin Peay’s Chelsea Harris and Anna Carling of Arkansas lead the 101-player field with a 146.
The final 18 holes will be played Sunday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
