CINCINNATI, Ohio -
The Morehead State women's tennis team came up just short in its match with the University of Cincinnati Friday, losing 4-3, at the Western Tennis and Fitness Club.

MSU fell to 0-4, while UC improved to 1-3.

The Bearcats won all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead, and the Eagles picked up singles wins at numbers one, four and six.

At number one, Alexandra Rydberg defeated Lindsey Lonergan 6-2, 6-7, 6-4. Kayla Tuscany won over Caitlion O'Gara 7-6, 2-6, 6-2 at number four, and Lauren Delaney secured a 7-5, 6-1 victory against Abby Mayo at number six. Alix Young took the first set 7-5 versus Kysenia Slynko but then fell 6-4, 6-2.

The Eagles' next match is at Ball State on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Women's Tennis
Junior women's tennis player Brooke Helms went undefeated in singles action over the weekend, as she tallied two individual match wins. 

Helms clinched the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Big East power West Virginia, a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at number five singles.  Helms then was only one of two Eagle netters to score a win in a 5-2 loss at Duquesne , winning 6-3, 6-4 at number five.

Men's Basketball senior Ty Proffitt recorded a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Tuesday’s 75-69 victory over Norfolk State. 

He then registered a season-best 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Tennessee Tech. 

The guard, who hails from London, Ky., connected on 69 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 67 percent from downtown (8-of-12) in addition to making all eight free-throw attempts.  He also committed just four turnovers in 65 minutes last week.

Proffitt was also named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances this past week.
