INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Morehead State softball team started its Fall season by winning all three games Saturday at IUPUI. The Eagles defeated Butler, Marian and host IUPUI.

The Eagles began the day with a 1-0 win in walk-off fashion against a tough Butler team. MSU Senior pitcher Alex Gjevre and Butler freshman Jenny Esparza - the 2009 Miss Softball winner in Indiana - dueled scoreless for five innings. Sophomore pitcher Ashley Boyd came on in the sixth and held the Bulldogs off the board as well. In the seventh, the Eagles drew a bases-loaded walk to win the game.

MSU then defeated Marian 4-1. Senior pitcher Sarah Funston tossed the first five frames, and freshman Elizabeth Wagner threw two innings.

The Eagles thumped IUPUI 9-2 in their final game of the day. Boyd and Marshall transfer Kayla Stinson saw action in the circle.

According to head coach Holly Bruder, the Eagles looked solid in all aspects of the game, especially defense.
