Chaney Finishes Second, Eagle Team Fifth in the OVC Men's Golf Championships

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. -- Senior Lee Chaney finished second and the Eagle team fifth in the 2009 Ohio Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship, played April 27-29 at the Fighting Joe championship course at The Shoals, a part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

Chaney earned all-tournament honors after shooting a one-under par 215 for the tournament and finishing a shot behind Gonzalo Berlin of Jacksonville State.

Austin Peay (877) rallied in the final round to edge Murray State (878) by one shot. Jacksonville State and Eastern Kentucky (888) tied for third. The fifth place Eagles (890) were followed by Tennessee State (915) in sixth place, Eastern Illinois (931) in seventh, UT Martin (936) in eighth and Tennessee Tech (944) in ninth.

Crit Reddick, 80-72-72 224 (tie 16th)

Women's Tennis
Junior women's tennis player Brooke Helms went undefeated in singles action over the weekend, as she tallied two individual match wins. 

Helms clinched the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Big East power West Virginia, a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at number five singles.  Helms then was only one of two Eagle netters to score a win in a 5-2 loss at Duquesne , winning 6-3, 6-4 at number five.

Men's Basketball
Men's Basketball senior Ty Proffitt recorded a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Tuesday’s 75-69 victory over Norfolk State. 

He then registered a season-best 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Tennessee Tech. 

The guard, who hails from London, Ky., connected on 69 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 67 percent from downtown (8-of-12) in addition to making all eight free-throw attempts.  He also committed just four turnovers in 65 minutes last week.

Proffitt was also named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances this past week.
