OXFORD, Miss. – Morehead State University women’s soccer had a rally fall just short, losing 3-2 to Mississippi State in a non-conference neutral-site game at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Bethany Davidson from 25 yards out.
Mississippi State (2-0) re-established its two-goal lead with a header by Monica Alvarado just four minutes later, but the Eagles responded less than 30 seconds later when sophomore
Jillian Birchmeier slipped a shot in net from eight yards out near the post off a pass from sophomore
Sarah Phillip.
Despite leading in shots in the second half, 10-7, Morehead State was unable to find the equalizer in the final 27 minutes. In all, the Eagles led in shots 15-14, 10 of which were on goal, forcing Mississippi State keeper Taryn Holland to make eight saves. Morehead junior keeper Lily Mesiner made three saves. The Eagles also led in corner kicks 8-3.
