Eagle Women Swept By EKU In Tennis Action

MOREHEAD, Ky. - The Morehead State women's tennis team fell to an even 10-10 overall and 2-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference Tuesday night as the Eagles fell to OVC rival Eastern Kentucky 7-0. The Colonels swept the Eagles and won all singles and doubles matches.

MSU sophomore Madeleinne Antero fell to EKU's Alexandra Sitnikova 6-0, 6-1 in No.1 singles. In the No. 2 slot EKU's Svetlana Pimenova was victorious over Morehead State senior Heather Butt 7-5, 6-1.

 

In doubles action Butt and Lauren Delaney fell to Sitnikova and Pimenova 8-4 in the No. 1 match. The MSU duo of Meg Rozboril and Alexandra Rydberg lost to Anouk Faure and Jemma Euers 8-1 in the No. 2 slot.

 

MSU will look for its third conference win April 10 as they host Austin Peay at 10 a.m.

Men's Basketball
Men's Basketball senior Ty Proffitt recorded a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Tuesday’s 75-69 victory over Norfolk State. 

He then registered a season-best 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Tennessee Tech. 

The guard, who hails from London, Ky., connected on 69 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 67 percent from downtown (8-of-12) in addition to making all eight free-throw attempts.  He also committed just four turnovers in 65 minutes last week.

Proffitt was also named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances this past week.

Women's Tennis
Junior women's tennis player Brooke Helms went undefeated in singles action over the weekend, as she tallied two individual match wins. 

Helms clinched the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Big East power West Virginia, a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at number five singles.  Helms then was only one of two Eagle netters to score a win in a 5-2 loss at Duquesne , winning 6-3, 6-4 at number five.
