CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Freshman Ellie Roberson and junior Kaitlin Craven both posted match highs of 18 kills, but host Southeast Missouri rallied to defeat the Morehead State volleyball Eagles 3-2 at Houck Fieldhouse Friday night. The Eagles led 2-1 but could not close the match out as they fell to 18-9 overall and 10-5 in the OVC.

SEMO took the first set 25-18, but MSU claimed the next two, 25-21 and 25-18, to take the 2-1 lead. The Eagles, though, committed 16 attack errors in the final two sets and lost 25-18 and 15-11.

The Eagles also got 11 kills from redshirt sophomore Emma Keough. MSU landed nine aces but also committed 10 service errors, while the Redhawks hit .286 during the five-set match.

MSU junior setter Kirstie Brangers recorded a season high 58 assists and posted 13 digs for her 12th double-double this season, while senior libero Kristina Schoo picked up a match best 19 digs. As a team, however, MSU was out-dug 64-58. Keough tallied five blocks.

SEMO was led by a 16-kill night from Emily Hughes who also hit a match high .394. Karleigh Delong flirted with a triple-double. She had nine kills, 14 digs and six blocks.

The Redhawks never had more than five attack errors in each set, while MSU had double digit errors in sets one and four.

Morehead State's match at Eastern Illinois Saturday was cancelled and a make-up date has not been set yet. The next match for MSU will now be on Friday, Nov. 13 against Tennessee Tech at home at 7 p.m.

Women's Tennis

Junior women's tennis player Brooke Helms went undefeated in singles action over the weekend, as she tallied two individual match wins.

Helms clinched the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Big East power West Virginia, a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at number five singles. Helms then was only one of two Eagle netters to score a win in a 5-2 loss at Duquesne, winning 6-3, 6-4 at number five.

Men's Basketball

Men's Basketball senior Ty Proffitt recorded a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Tuesday’s 75-69 victory over Norfolk State.

He then registered a season-best 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Tennessee Tech.

The guard, who hails from London, Ky., connected on 69 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 67 percent from downtown (8-of-12) in addition to making all eight free-throw attempts. He also committed just four turnovers in 65 minutes last week.

Proffitt was also named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances this past week.
