MOREHEAD, Ky. – Five members of the Morehead State soccer team received Ohio Valley Conference honors Wednesday night at the OVC awards reception. Senior midfielder
Lindsay Stefanini was named to the All-OVC First Team, while senior midfielder
Bethany Davidson and junior goalkeeper
Lily Meisner earned second-team honors.
Courtney Moriarty was named to the All-OVC Newcomer team and head coach
Warren Lipka was named the OVC Coach of the Year.
Stefanini has been a pivotal player in the midfield this year for the Eagles appearing in 17 games and registering one assist. She has also fired 20 shots this season.
Davidson has registered three goals and four assists on the season from her attacking midfield position, while Meisner has been in goal for all but 16 minutes of MSU’s season and has registered five shutouts.
Moriarty has played far beyond her years this season, tallying a goal and an assist.
In just his first season on the sidelines, Lipka has led the Eagles to its first ever regular season OVC crown with a 5-0-3 conference record. The Eagles also hold an overall record of 8-6-4. Both records are program bests.
The Eagles will begin their OVC tournament title defense Friday afternoon at Jayne Stadium when they play in the semifinals of the OVC tournament against the winner of Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech. Kickoff is 5 p.m. The championship is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
