Volleyball Battles Jacksonville State for OVC Tourney Title

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - After downing Austin Peay in a five set thriller Friday night, the Morehead State volleyball team will battle top seed and host Jacksonville State Saturday night for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship.

The Eagles come into the match with a 21-10 overall record. MSU has been led by Kristina Schoo, who has compiled two 30-plus dig efforts in the tournament. Offensively, Kaitlin Craven and Ellie Roberson have led the Eagle attack, both going for double-digit kills in each of the two tournament matches. Coach Jaime Gordon will also look to Emma Keough and Annie Gruenschlaeger to have significant contributions as they lead an MSU defense that ranked first in the OVC in blocks. Keough and Gruenschlaeger will also be looked to come up big offensively. Kirstie Brangers will also need a big game setting for the Eagle hitters.

Jacksonville State enters the match with an overall record of 25-6 and only lost one match in conference play in the regular season. The Gamecocks beat Murray State in four sets in the semifinals to advance to the championship.  Brittney Whitten leads a balanced Gamecock attack.
