Tyndall Adds 11th Hour Recruit Lasme

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State men’s basketball coach Donnie Tyndall has announced that Romaric Lasme has signed a National Letter of Intent with Eagle men’s basketball.

Lasme is a 6-7, 220-pound forward transfer from Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wy. A native of Port-Gentil, Gabon, Lasme is averaging 18.5 points and eight rebounds for the Golden Eagles this season.

“Romeric is a very good athlete and a skilled post player,” Tyndall said. “We weren’t sure whether or not he would sign early, but we are extremely glad to have him in our family,”

Lasme joins five other early Eagle signees. P.J. Meyers (5-7, 165 lbs., G, Augusta, Ga. – Chattanooga State Community College); Shannon Williams (6-8, 225 lbs., F, Detroit, MI – Cass Tech High School); Arthur McMillan (6-5, 220 lbs., F, Nashville, TN – Hillsboro High School); Robert Wade (6-7, 210 lbs., F, Nashville, TN – Maplewood High School); Kevin Gray (6-1, 180 lbs., G, Reynoldsburg, OH – Reynoldsburg High School) have also signed with Morehead State.

MSU is 1-1 so far this season and will host Louisiana Monroe Saturday at 7:30 pm at Johnson Arena.

Men's Basketball senior Ty Proffitt recorded a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Tuesday’s 75-69 victory over Norfolk State. 

He then registered a season-best 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Tennessee Tech. 

The guard, who hails from London, Ky., connected on 69 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 67 percent from downtown (8-of-12) in addition to making all eight free-throw attempts.  He also committed just four turnovers in 65 minutes last week.

Proffitt was also named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances this past week.

Women's Tennis
Junior women's tennis player Brooke Helms went undefeated in singles action over the weekend, as she tallied two individual match wins. 

Helms clinched the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Big East power West Virginia, a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at number five singles.  Helms then was only one of two Eagle netters to score a win in a 5-2 loss at Duquesne , winning 6-3, 6-4 at number five.
