MOREHEAD - Ky. - Alix Young, a transfer from the University of Houston, has completed enrollment requirements and will join the Morehead State women's tennis program in January. Young will be eligible immediately.
"The addition of Alix, who comes to us with a proven college record at Houston, simply makes us a stronger team. Her work ethic and desire to win are just a small part of what make her a special player," said head coach Kevin Fulton. "I see her fitting in very well with our team and making this a very dangerous team. We need to be with the schedule we have."
Young is a native of East Hampton, Massachusetts who attended Laurel Springs Online School where she graduated in 2008. She attended Houston as a freshman last season before deciding to transfer to MSU. Young has also trained at the world reknowned IMG Bolletier Tennis Academy.
As a freshman at UH in 200-09, she recorded a 12-5 singles record, including a 6-0 mark at number five singles. She was also 2-2 in doubles as the Cougars ranked ninth in the ITA regional rankings. Young was named to the Conference USA Dean's List.
"Alix was an essential pick up for us going into a very challenging spring schedule," said assistant coach Damar Johnson. "The addition of Alix helps solidify what was already a good line up last year and makes us an even better team."
