MOREHEAD, Ky. -
The tournament field and bracket for the 2009 Ohio Valley Conference tournament has been set. Morehead State and UT Martin finished the regular season as co-champions after each team earned 18 points during OVC play. Both the Eagles and the Skyhawks received first round byes in the six team tournament. MSU was awarded the top seed and also earned the right to host the tournament at Jayne Stadium.

The tournament kicks off on Thursday evening when fourth seeded Tennessee Tech battles fifth seeded Eastern Illinois at 5 p.m. Third seeded Murray State will face sixth seeded Eastern Kentucky at 8 p.m.
MSU will face the winner of the TTU-EIU matchup at 5 p.m. on Friday, while UT Martin will play the winner of the Murray State-EKU game at 8 p.m.

The championship game will be Sunday at 1 p.m.

Morehead State is the defending OVC tournament champions after defeating UT Martin in the championship by a score of 1-0.

Women's Tennis
Junior women's tennis player Brooke Helms went undefeated in singles action over the weekend, as she tallied two individual match wins. 

Helms clinched the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Big East power West Virginia, a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at number five singles.  Helms then was only one of two Eagle netters to score a win in a 5-2 loss at Duquesne , winning 6-3, 6-4 at number five.

Men's Basketball
Men's Basketball senior Ty Proffitt recorded a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Tuesday’s 75-69 victory over Norfolk State. 

He then registered a season-best 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Tennessee Tech. 

The guard, who hails from London, Ky., connected on 69 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 67 percent from downtown (8-of-12) in addition to making all eight free-throw attempts.  He also committed just four turnovers in 65 minutes last week.

Proffitt was also named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances this past week.
