CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The Morehead State women's golf team held onto its first round lead and won the tournament title at the F&M Bank Intercollegiate at the par 72, 5,960-yard Clarksville Country Club. MSU shot its low round as a team for the year with a 304 Tuesday and claimed its second tournament title in as many events.

Freshman Marisa Kamelgarn and junior Paige Lausier each tied for second place individually. Lausier fired a 73 in Tuesday's final round and finished with a 152 total. Kamelgarn, who led all players after the opening round, carded a 77 Tuesday after a 75 on Monday. Tennessee Tech's Megan Bradford rallied with a par 72 on Tuesday and won the medalist honor with a 150 tournament total.

“I am really proud of our team. It was especially nice to see four out of our five players in the 70s today and keep it together for the whole round. This is a tricky, challenging course and it’s a ball-strikers course, so if your short game is weak and if you sort of miss, it’s pretty tough to shoot well. Our girls left a few putts out there, but for the most part, I was happy with how we handled it here," said head coach Stephanie Barker. "It’s exciting to shoot our low round as a team this year on such a tough course. The last few weeks have been exciting to see how this team has progressed. We have been able to put together several solid rounds and we are really playing well right now.”

Sophomore Emma Jonsson finished in a tie for ninth place with an 81-76-157, while Emma Eksell carded an 81-78-159 for 13th place. Senior Darlene Bognot was MSU's fifth player and she finished with an 82-86-168.

Tennessee Tech (4th), Murray State (6th), Eastern Kentucky (7th), APSU (two teams, 9th and 12th), Eastern Illinois (11th), SIU Edwarsdville (15th) and Tennessee State (17th) were the other OVC schools in the event.

The Eagles will conclude the Fall portion of their 2009-10 schedule on Nov. 1-3 at the Pinehurst (N.C.)Challenge on Pinehurst #6. The event is hosted by the College of Charleston.
