Morehead, Ky. – The Morehead State rifle team was in action this past Saturday against the Akron Zips. Morehead State and Akron both fielded two teams for the match. Morehead State’s gold team fired an aggregate score of 4514 which was good for second place in the match just behind Akron’s gold team at 4548. MSU’s blue team shot a 4340 and Akron’s blue team fired a 4394.

Individually the Eagles were led Kevin Mulligan who fired a score of 572 in the smallbore event to take first place. Mulligan also shot a 569 in the air rifle which was good for seventh place. Other Eagles who did well in the smallbore were Shawn Holley (566, 4th), and Elizabeth Lyon (562, 5th).

In the air rifle, MSU’s top finishers were Shawn Holley and Elizabeth Lyon who both fired a 573 which was a tie for third place. Sarah Benjamin from Akron won the air rifle with a score of 587.

Morehead State’s rifle team will be in action this weekend, first on Oct. 24 at UT Martin and then on Oct. 25 at Tennessee Tech.
