Men's Golf In 11th After Two Rounds At F&M Bank Intercollegiate

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.—Morehead State men’s golf team is tied for 11th place with Missouri State after the first two rounds of the F&M Bank Austin Peay Intercollegiate. The event was played at the par 72, 6,841-yard Clarksville Country Club.

Junior Alex Misback leads the Eagles and is tied for 21st overall with a 146 (71-75). Sophomore Crit Reddick and freshman Joe Haydon tied for 39th overall, each shooting a 148 (75-73). Freshman Jared Flanery's 149 (74-75) placed him tied for 47nd overall. Sophomore Sam Zirnheld fired a 154 (79-75) to tie for 72nd overall.

Towson currently leads the event with a 575. Eastern Kentucky (second-576), host Austin Peay (fifth-580), Jacksonville State (sixth-583), Murray State (seventh-585), Eastern Illinois (eighth-588), Tennessee Tech (eighth-588), SIU-Edwardsville (13th-592), Tennessee State (14th-594) and UT Martin (16th-602) were the other Ohio Valley Conference teams at the event.

The third and final round begins at 10 a.m. ET with a shotgun start to the 18-hole finale.

Men's Basketball
Men's Basketball senior Ty Proffitt recorded a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Tuesday’s 75-69 victory over Norfolk State. 

He then registered a season-best 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Tennessee Tech. 

The guard, who hails from London, Ky., connected on 69 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 67 percent from downtown (8-of-12) in addition to making all eight free-throw attempts.  He also committed just four turnovers in 65 minutes last week.

Proffitt was also named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances this past week.

Women's Tennis
Junior women's tennis player Brooke Helms went undefeated in singles action over the weekend, as she tallied two individual match wins. 

Helms clinched the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Big East power West Virginia, a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at number five singles.  Helms then was only one of two Eagle netters to score a win in a 5-2 loss at Duquesne , winning 6-3, 6-4 at number five.
