Shafik and Milovanovic Reach Doubles Flight Final at Louisville Winter Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Morehead State's Chris Shafik and Dusan Milovanovic will be playing Sunday for the championship of the flight C doubles event at the Louisville Winter Invitational. The MSU pair has won its first two matches and will battle a doubles tandem from Tennessee Tech for the title Sunday.

Shafik also won a first round singles match in flight C before dropping into the consolation bracket.

Also competing in the event for MSU are Bradley Bryan, Greg Anderson, Nathan Blum and Nathan Martin.

A complete wrap-up of MSU's results will be available after the conclusion of the tournament.

Women's Tennis

Junior women's tennis player Brooke Helms went undefeated in singles action over the weekend, as she tallied two individual match wins.

Helms clinched the come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Big East power West Virginia, a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 at number five singles. Helms then was only one of two Eagle netters to score a win in a 5-2 loss at Duquesne, winning 6-3, 6-4 at number five.

Men's Basketball

Men's Basketball senior Ty Proffitt recorded a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in Tuesday’s 75-69 victory over Norfolk State.

He then registered a season-best 20 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, 4-of-7 from long range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in Saturday’s 56-50 win over Tennessee Tech.

The guard, who hails from London, Ky., connected on 69 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 67 percent from downtown (8-of-12) in addition to making all eight free-throw attempts. He also committed just four turnovers in 65 minutes last week.

Proffitt was also named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his performances this past week.
