CINCINNATI, Ohio—The Morehead State men’s golf team improved to finish tied for 11th at Cincinnati's Bearcat Invitational. The Eagles shot a 914 (315-299-300) to tie Marshall Tuesday at the par-72, 7,103-yard Traditions Golf Club.
Sophomore Sam Zirnheld was Morehead State's top finisher with a 221 (71-75-71), closing out the tournament tied for seventh. He had nine birdies through the 54-hole event. Alex Misback, who totaled eight birdies, improved over his day one scores by one stroke and moved up six places to finish 42nd with a 230 (77-77-76).
Sophomore Dean Schneider tallied a 234 (80-74-80) to tie for 54th overall and place third for the Eagles. Daniel Iceman fired his best round of the tournament to move up 13 spots and into a tie for 61st with a 235 (83-77-75). Crit Reddick, who struggled in the first round, but improved dramatically in each successive round, shot a 238 (85-79-74) and improved 16 slots to finish tied for 67th overall.
Miami (Ohio) won the 17-team event with an 889 (305-287-297). Eastern Kentucky (fourth – 898) and Austin Peay (ninth- 907) are the other Ohio Valley Conference teams at the event.
Morehead State concludes the fall season on Oct. 18-19 at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate.
