Eagle Golfers Remain in 10th After Second Round of the OVC Championships

Jeff Pierce continues as MSU's top individual, moving from a tie for 23rd place after round one to a tie for 17th place after the second round.
MSU golfers have posted the following scores after 36 of 54 holes: Jeff Pierce (tie 17) - 79-76 155 Davy Fields (tie 40) - 82-83 165 Alex Misback (tie 46) - 89-84 173 Shawn Tipton (tie 46) - 87-86 173 Zack Unger (49) - 85-91 176
Eastern Kentucky leads the tournament by 26 shots over Murray State. The Colonels are at four-over par 580 as a team, and EKU's Ryan Britt and Jessie Massie are the individual leaders at even- par 144. The final round is scheduled for Tuesday.

Jeff Pierce was MSU's low golfer with a seven-over par 79, good enough for a tie for 23rd place.
MSU golfers shot the following first round scores: Jeff Pierce (tie 23) - 79 Davy Fields (tie 34) - 82 Zack Unger (tie 45) - 85 Shawn Tipton (48) - 87 Alex Misback (49) - 89
Eastern Kentucky leads the tournament by 17 shots over Murray State. The Colonels shot an even par 288 as a team, and EKU's Jessie Massie is the individual leader at two-under par 70.

- Fields Leads Eagle Golfers to Best Start of the Spring in the Murray State Spring Invitational
MSU shot its best two rounds of the spring as a team, a 291 followed by a 290, and stands at five-over par 581 with 18 holes remaining.
The team standings are: Murray State 568, Tennessee Tech 569, UT Martin and Lipscomb 571, Belmont 575, Morehead State 581, John A. Logan 590, Tennessee Tech #2 597, Evansville 599 and Tennessee State 607.
Fields is tied for fourth in the individual competition, three shots behind Murray State's Jerry Price. - Eagle Golfers Open Spring Season With 12th Place Finish in Grover Page Classic
Central Arkansas, with an eight-over par total of 584, defeated Lipscomb by one shot in the 16-team tournament. MSU shot 308-315 623. Lipscomb's Cory Parkinson shot four-under par 140 and won medalist honors by three shots. MSU golfers shot the following scores: *Michael Brown (tie 28) - 75-75 150 Alex Wright (tie 30) - 72-79 151 Jeff Pierce (tie 48) - 78-77 155 Shawn Tipton (tie 60) - 80-78 158 Davy Fields (tie 65) - 78-81 159 Aaron Morrison (75) - 80-83 163 *Played as an individual The Eagles will be back in action March 10-11 when they travel to Limestone Springs Golf Course in Oneonta, Ala., for the Samford Intercollegiate.

- Eagle Golfers Finish 12th in Skyhawk Classic
Tennessee Tech won the team championship with a 54-hole total of 860. Murray State's first team was second at 866, Murray State's second team third at 886, Evansville fourth at 888, Eastern Illinois fifth at 889, UT Martin's first team and Southern Illinois tied for sixth at 891, Army eighth at 902, Union (Tenn.) ninth at 906, Bradley 10th at 911, Jackson State 11th at 916, MSU 12th at 917, Southern Indiana 13th at 918, UT Martin's second team 14th at 932, Tennessee State 15th at 935 and Chicago State 16th at 963.
John Fox of Tennessee Tech took medalist honors by shooting a seven-under par 65 in the final round and finishing at five-under par 211.

- Eagle Golf Team Finishes Fourth in Murray State Invitational, Tipton Fifth Among Individual Golfers
Host Murray State rallied to win the team title with an 870 total. Tennessee Tech was second at 875, UT Martin third at 876, MSU fourth at 892, Murray State's second team was fifth at 898, Lewis University was sixth at 905, Tennessee State seventh at 907, Kentucky Wesleyan eighth at 916, Union (Tenn.) University was ninth at 931 and Chicago State was 10th at 950.
