Joel Zimmerman joined the Eagle basketball staff in 2008 as director of basketball operations. He was elevated to assistant coach in summer of 2009.
He assists in all aspect of the program, from recruiting to game preparation and coaching.
Zimmerman joined the MSU program after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Barton College. While he was there, Barton won the 2006-07 NCAA Division II National Championship. Zimmerman assisted in the day-to-day operations of the Barton program, including practice and game-day coaching, guard development, recruiting coordinator, created and managed weight conditioning program, film exchange and scouting and summer camp organization. He also served as assistant compliance director.
Prior to Barton, Zimmerman was an assistant coach for one season at Anderson University.
Zimmerman earned an associate degree at Roane State (Tenn.) Community College, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 grade point average. He also earned a bachelor's degree from Anderson College in 2003, graduating Cum Laude. |
